Man Charged With Attempted Murder After Shots Fired Into Catonsville Apartment

Shots fired Friday night through the bathroom window of a Catonsville apartment grazed a woman’s head as she hid in a closet with a toddler, according to Baltimore County police.

Tashawn Donta Kiah, 20, of Kevin Road in Baltimore City, is charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder, three counts of first-degree assault, and three firearms-related offenses, court records show.

Police say Cheyanne Karim-Cook told investigators she, three other adults, and a two-year-old child were inside her apartment around 10:30 p.m. when Kiah began repeatedly calling and texting her phone. About an hour later, Karim-Cook said, Kiah arrived at the apartment in the 200 block of Preston Court, banging on windows and doors in an attempt to get inside.

Karim-Cook told police she then heard Kiah at the rear of the apartment trying to enter through the bathroom window before multiple gunshots were fired through the glass.

According to charging documents, Julianna Rolek, 20, was hiding in a closet with the toddler when a bullet grazed the back of her head. She was taken to Shock Trauma for treatment and later released, court records show.

Kiah, who previously lived at the apartment before a recent breakup, fled the scene before officers arrived. He was located and arrested Saturday and is being held without bond at the Baltimore County Detention Center, according to court records.
